Our Mission

Zan Artefacts is committed to equality and was founded to offer a means of support to women throughout Iran where their rights have been restricted since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Working with Zan offers our female artisans a sense of freedom, security and financial independence. We partner directly with our talented craftswomen and have formed secure relationships with them to ensure that they are paid fairly and safely without going through husbands or fathers.

Zan is a beautiful, strong word that translates as Woman. We are named in honour of the incredible women we work with.

We value the artisans we work with and respect their culture and community - always building relationships based on trust. Iranian women are passionate about their craft and weaving techniques which have been handed down through the female generations for thousands of years. Working for themselves offers a sense of empowerment which is further strengthened with the knowledge that they are sharing their artistry with the world.

Transparency is a priority. We will continue to invest in our artisans and strive for excellence in our support of the female communities we work with to create a repeat, sustainable business.
